Mentor Information and Guidelines

Why Mentorship Works?

Before we start looking at how we will conduct the mentorship program, we need to first understand the benefits of mentorship. Powerful things happen when a respected, experienced person shows interest in and goes out of his/her way to help another individual develop.

Matthew 22:39 reads “Love your neighbor as yourself”.  It states clearly the importance of helping those around us. This doesn’t only mean just be nice to people you encounter, but by being invested in improving their lives and helping their development. Doing so not only helps the individual mentee, but it also creates a generation of young students who would effectively utilize the help and guidance they received.

When mentoring is done well, all parties benefit.

Pillars of Growth

Spiritual Growth

To foster our Christian faith within all aspects of our lives it is important we are continuously striving for spiritual growth. We hope the relationships created between a mentor and mentee will allow mentees to seek help about any spiritual life challenges through advice, prayer, and sharing the word of God.

Professional Growth

Mentors will help mentees navigate their education leading into their professional careers. Their relationships with their mentor will foster their capabilities and aspirations because of similar educational and career interests.

Social Growth

Self actualization is important to the wellbeing and development of youth. Mentors will support mentees by giving them tools to develop lasting critical social skills and provide positive life enriching experiences.
